Frequently Asked Questions:
How building sizes are measured?
Pole buildings are typically measured according to the following rules.
Width x Length = ( 40' X 80' )
Eave Height = Bottom of Skirt Board to Top of Sidewall. ( Eave height measurement is NOT height under truss.)
What is an Agricultural Exemption?
An agricultural exempt building in the past has typically been for farm use only. Due to increased building restrictions, few agricultural exemptions are granted. If you are building a farm use building, you should check with your county building department to see if an ag exemption applies to your project.
Do I need a Permit?
In most cases you will be required by your county building department to obtain a permit of some type. Check with your county to see what applies to your building or we can do it for you if you choose us to build your building.
What is a Snow Load?
Roof systems are designed at different capacities to withstand varying weight loads (per square foot). In post frame construction this weight load is typically referred to as snow load. Depending on your geographic region your snow load may vary.
What is an Exposure Rating?
An exposure rating is determined by how shielded the building site is from direct wind exposure. The less obstructed path the wind has to follow to contact your building the higher the exposure rating.
What is Wind Shear?
Wind shear is based on the extremes of the varying wind conditions at your location. Basic wind shear is the fastest mile wind speed associated with an annual probability.
What is Soil Compaction?
Soil compaction is determined by the classification of undisturbed soil at you building site. Typically sand is the lowest and hard rock like granite is the highest.
What is Seismic Zone?
Seismic zones are based on your location, related to ground fault activity.
